Documenting the performance art of Marina Abramović in pictures
An overview of the performance artist who explores her physical and emotional limits for her art
Following Marina Abramović's major retrospective at MoMA earlier this year, the Lisson Gallery in London will be staging a two-venue solo show of the artist's work for one month this autumn.
Marina Abramovć, which will run until 13 November, will feature video, photographs and sculpture from two key series. 52-54 Bell Street will host the Rhythm series in its entirety - the first time this body of work will have been brought together in one place - which is taken from her early performances. 29 Bell Street will premiere new work from her Back to Simplicity series, which is concerned with Abramović's interest in the pursuit of a simpler, more meditative lifestyle. The exhibition will be the artist's first solo show in London.
In connection with the exhibition, Abramović will be in conversation with Iwona Blazwick, Director of the Whitechapel Art Gallery on 16 October as part of Art Monthly's Talking Art series (Tate Modern, Bankside, SE1 9TG, 2.00 - 3.30pm).
Follow the Lisson on Twitter when, on 14 October, the artist will be at the gallery to answer your questions.
