Design stars' huge installation for this years London Design Festival
Japanese design firm Nendo can do no wrong. Lead by the low-profile genius of architect Oti Sako, it has just brought out a range of paper-inspired electronic accessories like the stylish wireless mouse 'Orime' - meaning 'fold' in Japanese (image above). It also boasts a collection of bold graphic packaging designs and has created a host of cool minimalist interiors for the likes of Puma, Kenzo and Issey Miyake.
Now Nendo has teamed up with British-based manufacturing company Established & Sons (which itself has worked with many of the big-dogs of product design including Revolver, Pour and Quilt) for London Design Festival to create the installation 'My London' which you can see at the Established & Sons HQ on Wenlock Road, London (until September 25).
The Japanese company, has selected its favourite products from Established & Sons' collection to show in the gallery. It has also contributed its own design for the space which takes the form of a massive screen made of no less than 14,000 maps of London printed on transparent paper displayed on a huge concrete wall in the gallery.
There's also a place in the showroom where you can sit down, relax and have a read of some of Phaidon's excellent collection of books which explore the past and present of product and interior design.
