1940s tips for growing your own vegetables today

Phaidon has unearthed this archived 'Dig for Victory' video - 70 years after the introduction of food rationing - and we've found it to be just as relevant today, with helpful pointers for growing your own vegetables.  As we turn to cook books to help perfect our home cooking, it's also right that we should focus as much on the best ingredients as well as the recipes.  And what better way to reduce our carbon footprint, get some light exercise and then reap the rewards with home-grown vegetables in a delicious meal?  It still just goes to show - an hour in the garden is better than time in a queue.
