Behind the vision of the best of Italy's fashion creators
Colin McDowell distills the best of Italian creativity, craftsmanship, style and photography for the exhibition 'Masters of Style'
Masters of Style, an exhibition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, begins this week at Somerset House in London (1 July - 14 August).
The show charts the photography publicity campaigns that distills the six month's intense creativity and hard work each season of key Italian fashion houses: Dolce & Gabbana, Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Missoni and Prada.
Colin McDowell, eminent fashion historian and author, curates the exhibition which includes the stories behind the photographs, as McDowell explains: 'Anecdotes, recollections and explanations directly from the designers themselves made everything about the exhibition theirs and gave it a deeper meaning than anything a curator might wish to say.'
