BIG Architects: 8 House wins best green roof in Scandinavia
A sloping moss-sedum roof is a hit for the Danish architecture firm
Designed by Danish firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), 8 Tallet (or 8 House) is a soon to be completed apartment complex in the Ørestad neighbourhood of Copenhagen. The three projects feature a gorgeous green or living roof that is oriented to make the most of available daylight.
Since 2000 the Scandinavian Green Roof Association have given an award to the best green roof project in Scandinavia. The key objective being to promote an increased use of green roofs in the region and to highlight the positive impact of green roofs on the environment.
With city living becoming more congested than ever, green roofs are a great way to up the environmental status of urban areas.
