Works on show at the Liverpool Biennial 2010
View highlights from the festival that spills out of the galleries and on to the art loving streets of the city
Appearing as though created by a swarm of flies, Non-Sign II, from Lead Pencil Studio, is formed from scores of intertwined fine steel rods. The billboard-shaped void contrasts with the omnipresent advertising hoardings of the surrounding area, inviting viewers to concentrate instead on the natural beauty of the landscape.
Commissioned by the US government for a site by the US/Canadian border, the piece is the latest work to be created by the prize-winning Seattle-based duo, who were also behind Maryhill Double, the 'ghostlike' representation in scaffolding and construction netting of the Maryhill Museum, in Washington, which was installed opposite it's real-life model in 2006.
