The people behind the Real Food Festival (5 - 8 May) are also the brains behind the Real Street Food Festival (29 April - 2 May). Their simple yet brilliant idea was to reconnect people to where their food comes from and to promote the idea of buying directly from those who actually produce it.
Held at London's Southbank Centre, the Real Street Food Festival brings together the most authentic, quirky and specialist vendors who provide fresh, well-sourced and tasty food. If you want to stick to gourmet British fare, then The Street Kitchen is the place to go. Or if it's a taste of the exotic that gets your mouth watering there's Jamon Jamon's paella or Bhangra Burger, who combine the American classic with the flavours of India. For those with a sweet disposition, Choc Star, Creperie Nicolas and Churros Garcia all serve up heavenly indulgences.
Gone are the days of greasy sausages and bacon sarnies; this street festival serves up food cooked right in front of you that is great value and as fresh as you can get - food fit for a king! And since the festival coincides with the Royal Wedding, there will be enormous TV screens showing the wedding live.
